Students with neurodiversity bring valuable skills and perspectives to the online learning community. However, they also face barriers—and even stigma. After completing this sprint, you will be able to design or refine your instructor presence, course design, assessments, and course policies to be more inclusive of neurodivergent students.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define neurodivergence.
  • Identify various forms of neurodiversity. 
  • Identify barriers that neurodivergent learners face in the online environment.
  • Describe how instructor presence, course design, and course policies can lower barriers for neurodivergent learners.
  • Apply principles of universal design for learning (UDL) to support neurodivergent learners.
